Crucis Fatal/Fake (PC)
Before being able to play official Fate/Stay Night video games like Fate/Unlimited Codes, I also tried this surprisingly decent fan-made 3D fighting game for the PC named Crucis Fatal/Fake.
Can anyone tell where this logo was based on? LOL!
Developed by Light’s, this unofficial game follows the canonical events of the Fate and Heaven’s Feel arcs, having a total of 19 master and servant characters (some unlockables) from both Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Hollow Atraxia.
Four main modes can be chosen from upon launching the game: Arcade Mode – select a master with his/her corresponding servant, and go on with the story as you defeat the other masters one by one. Versus Mode – battle it out with a friend or CPU using your favorite masters and servants without a pair restriction. Heck, you can event pair up Shiro with Gilgamesh!
The last two modes are Training Mode and Network Mode – where you can host or join a server and fight with anyone anywhere in the world! Of course, a fast connection is needed as well as both players having the same version of the game.
Master and servant are interchangeable within the game and each has their own life gauge – with an exception for Illyasviel von Einsben. She doesn’t fight but she has special battle support skills that can make the servant stronger. Just like Marvel vs. Capcom, passive characters in the background can also attack and counter to help piss off the enemy.
For a game made by fans, I must say that with just a little more work, they’d be up to par with the official games themselves. The engine is nice and unique in its own way – smooth 3D cell-shaded animation that’s quite fast and responsive when doing those aerial combos paired with gauge-draining supers for a super-hyper-combo finish! Expect each character to have their finishing moves to be similar from the series – my favorite would be Archer’s Unlimited Blade Works.
This game definitely stays in my collection. Of course, the other official games are better but this one is quite fun to play too. Not to mention you only need the ff. to play: Pentium4 2.4Ghz CPU with 256MB RAM, 128MB VRAM and 1GB of hard disk space. How to get the game? You can download the trial here and purchase it if you want, but you can also rely on good ol’ Google to do stuff for you. :D
Anyway, if you want to try the official game Fate/Unlimited Codes for the PS2, get the game’s ISO and run it with the PS2 emulator PCSX2. Find out how you can play PS2 games on your PC in an old entry of mine here.
As personally requested by David from Kalay Otaku, here’s a demo video I picked up in YouTube. Enjoy!
