Acer Aspire E5-571G-759V Unboxing and Review
After two years of countless photo and video editing projects from Perfect Renders, financial quotations and proposals from PRULife, playing games and watching anime with my Acer Aspire V3-471G, it’s finally time to say goodbye to my old buddy and say hello to the all-new Acer Aspire E5-571G-759V!
Purchase Rationale
Despite the fact that an upgrade wasn’t really necessary on my end- well, I could have still carried on with work with the old laptop, but an opportunity opened up when my dad needed to upgrade his. So I sold my V3 to him for cheap and just added the needed cash to get the E5. The upgrade wasn’t really big a jump in terms of specs and performance, but I needed the larger screen for my editing. A crampy working space is a sucky working space. I guess the next-generation processor and graphics card are also a plus, even if only a little.
So Who’s The Seller / Supplier?
As you may or may not know, I’m against buying gadgets in malls. Long story short- they’re just a lot more expensive with all the overhead, rental and extended warranty costs added to them. That’s why I prefer to go with trusted online sellers and specialty shops. If you know where to find these types, you can’t go wrong with them.
In this case, I found a certain Chester’s Gadgets by Chester Lim on TipidPC selling the E5 a lot cheaper than most sellers. Of course I did my homework- checked out his positive and negative ratings on the site, his profile, the works. After he checked out fine, I immediately set a meeting with him the next day at Glorietta, Makati.
Sure, dealing with online sellers can be cheaper, but you’ll also be treading on thin ice. One mishap can turn the transaction to a disaster, and both parties can’t run to the police since it’s an unofficial and private transaction. That’s why you have to be careful. Hmm, I might blog about this topic in detail soon. Will post a link later.
I met with Chester around lunch time the next day, and he was very hospitable. As the laptop only had a one week-replacement warranty, he made sure every nook and corner of the E5’s hardware and software were tried and tested properly. He began with the hardware- he showed me every side with care, indicating there were no bumps or scratches and that the gadget has never been tampered with. After trying the charger we turned on the laptop and he guided me in testing the apps, USB ports, DVD drive, everything! He’s so enthusiastic in testing the product by the end of the day you won’t have anything to complain about, which is good.
The only thing that might put off a buyer is that the box was already opened prior our meeting- this is standard safety procedure for them and the buyer because they want to check themselves the product first before delivering it. He mentioned was this instance before where the product was delivered direct from the supplier, unopened, and when they did open it in front of the buyer, the laptop had a cracked screen. In that situation, it will be hard to determine where the crack occurred- leaving the supplier skeptical, in which there’s a good chance they won’t entertain the incident anymore. Bad business for both Chester and the buyer, right?

Post-Comments After Usage
It’s been three months now since I got the E5, and from that time span I was able to do a couple of photo and video projects with it already. Compared to my old V3, video rendering is faster and definitely much more comfortable due to the bigger work space. I can also play FFXIV smoothly with maximum graphics settings (which lags badly on the old one.) It’s not constant 60-70fps on maximum settings at all times, but I guess it’s not a P60,000 laptop, either.
I also love the fact that the system boots very fast. Just a few seconds after turning the on button, boom! You’re at your desktop already. It’s thinner, lighter, and it also comes with a genuine Windows 8.1 so you can download all the updates you want, anytime! If there’s one downside for me, it’s the laptop not having a mic-in port. It has a universal mic, but what’s bad about that is that it can hear everything, unlike when you have a dedicated mic plugged in. But oh well. Those are just minute details.
So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed yet another nerdy article from me. If you have any questions or inquiries related to this topic or any topic discussed in my site, feel free to write it on the comments section below!

Hey dude,
This was a very helpful article. Thanks.
Just a request sana. Can you send me a close-up image of the keyboard layout? I’m planning to buy din kasi though torn pa ako between your unit and Asus X555LN. Keyboard layout is important to me eh. Lalo na yung mga FNs.
If ok lang, send mo na lang sa email ko.
Thanks!
Pre have you decided on which one to buy? Im having the same problem rn, dunno which ones better
Hahaha! same problem here. torn between Asus X555LN-X0024H and this Acer E5-571G-759V.
They pretty much have the same specs, only difference is their looks. Kung anong itsura nalang siguro mas gusto niyo. :)
Maganda po ba pag gamitin pang gaming like GTA V tsaka NBA 2K15?
Kayang kaya sir yung GTAV and NBA 2K15. :)
Hi, just wanted to check if your meet up with Chester was in McDo Sta. Ana? I arranged to buy from him and wanted to avoid scams.
Thank you.
Hi, Lara! You probably met with him already considering my late reply, but yes, hindi po siya scam in case you still want my answer. Met with him once, and I had friends buy from him as well.
Hi man, cool article. I’m also eyeing this model as it is cheap and has impressive specs, not high-end but it’s still decent but I was wondering, you mentioned that this rig doesn’t have a mic-in port right? So is there like a plug-in device that you can use when, let’s say, you want to use an external mic or a headset/mic?
I just found out! The earphones port also works like the ones in mobile phones- if your headset also has mic, it will work as well. The downside though, is that they’re not separated. You have to have a 2-in-1 headset. Other than that, I guess you use the laptop’s mic or a USB one.
i have this laptop for almost 6 months, very reliable for video editing, for games med-high(custom) yakang yaka wag ka lng mag ultra kung meron lol, connectivity(wifi)Good,Not a high end laptop but you can almost feel like its one of them, with some good care tatagal to :) oh! problems? no major problems, just hangs when you load a ton of apps ofcourse! haha
this machine is made for 8.1 Windows, i tried windows 10 pro dami pang bugs like FN key for brightness wala, So ill stick to 8.1 muna :) nabili ko ng 42k, but mas mura na siguro ngayon 41k? lol,
Verdict: B+
Nice, thanks for the added review, Erick! And thanks for the heads up- I was contemplating on having this laptop on Windows 10 but I guess I won’t push for it just yet.
