Puella Magi Madoka Magica Review
by chad
Hearing news that Yuki Kajiura and her Kalafina is behind the music of yet another new anime, I just had to see it. Their masterpiece from Kara No Kyoukai still give me the goosebumps, after all. Going over some reviews, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, also called Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika, definitely screams the genre Magical Girl niched for kiddie girls – though most people who have seen it say otherwise. So should we waste our time on this one?
Please do read further. :)
I’m no fan of magical girls, but still I decided to give it a shot. The introduction was an eye-catcher it seems, as it contradicted what I was initially expecting – instead of a girly intro with cuddly pets and blooming flowers, there was this dark setting somewhat similar to Shakugan No Shana in fuzetsu mode, and a dark-haired girl fighting a weird thing in the sky that kept throwing concrete at her. Kalafina’s ‘Magia’ would be playing all the while in the background.
Since I already talked about PCSX2 – PlayStation 2 Emulator for the PC, might as well do so with the more classic ones as well – the ePSXe, an awesome desktop emulator for the original PlayStation!
You can easily download it for FREE at http://epsxe.com/. The site also comes with instruction articles and guides in how to get it operating properly. Though no worries, you can just follow the step-by-step configuration procedure when running the emulator for the first time after installation.
What you might have a hard time with is what to do next to get it working: finding a BIOS dump of the original PlayStation and finding the right plugins for you and your games. Luckily, I’ll help you get through this!
It’s official! After 13 long years, a new Rurouni Kenshin shall surface for everyone to feast on! Though little info has been released concerning this issue, the project has been green-lit by the higher-ups! More juicy bits below!
From Anime News Network: “The June issue of Shueisha‘s Jump Square magazine is announcing on Thursday that production on a new Rurouni Kenshin anime project has been green-lit. More info will be provided in future issues of Jump Square.
The magazine also noted that the Blu-ray Disc versions of the two Rurouni Kenshin original video anime (OVA) projects and the Rurouni Kenshin: Ishin Shishi no Chinkonka [Requiem] film will ship between August 24 and October 26.
A very dramatic piece that incorporates slice-of-life instances, family values, comedy and a bit of romance. I really recommend everyone to watch Kure-nai for its heart-touching storyline, laid-back yet superb animation, clever and refined dialogues as well as it’s extremely breathtaking piano soundtrack! This is definitely one of my favorites.
Synopsis: We follow Shinkurou Kurenai, who attends high school at day and works as a dispute mediator at night. He lost his parents at a very young age and now lives alone in his own apartment. He is able to pay off his expenses with the help of his employer and somewhat stepmother, Benika Juzawa – the one who took care of him after losing his family. He wanted to become as strong as her so that he could live on. It wasn’t long when she sent him to the Hozuki family to train his body so he would be capable of working under her.
Yet another visual novel masterpiece of Typemoon that has invaded not just the PC-game market, but the anime, manga, PS2 and PSP markets as well. Just like Shingetsutan Tsukihime and Kara No Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners, the Fate/Stay Night world falls under the same universe called Nasuverse.
Plot: Emiya Shirou dumbfoundedly finds himself to be a participant amidst a mystical endeavor called the Holy Grail War where seven Masters, along with their epic hero Servants, battle it out to be the rightful owner of the all-powerful Holy Grail. Though suprisingly, he is just your amateur mechanic who attends Homurabara Gakuen high school in Fuyuki City.

Maria†Holic Review
by chad
This is officially the first gender-bender anime I’ve finished watching, and I must agree that this one is very amusing – in a lesbian-perverted way, if you must. Just to clarify, Maria†Holic is a parody of yuri and not yuri, as it will be just the protagonist having one-sided fantasies about the oblivious pure-hearted girls around her. :D
Plot: Maria†Holic begins with our leading “lady” Kanako Miyamae, who is very much antagonistic of boys and would break out in hives if touched by them. Transferring as a sophomore to an all-girls Catholic school called Ame No Kisaki, she hopes to find ‘unique’ encounters with her fellow female schoolmates.
On her first day at school, she meets Shidou Mariya, and immediately becomes her ideal love candidate after being given a misinterpreted friendly kiss from her.
