    Seitokai Yakuindomo Review

    by chad

I apologize that it’s been so long since I last posted an anime review. Three months ago was my last to be exact. Well, things have been pretty hectic that my blog time was not the only thing that was being constantly sacrificed, but my watch and play time as well (I haven’t even finished FFXIII-2 yet >.). Now that I have more time now since a big project just finished, let me make you up for it with Seitokai Yakuindomo!

Plot: Literally translating to ‘Student Council Staff Members‘, Seitokai Yakuindomo starts with the cliched ‘protagonist on his first day of high school’ scenario. Osai Academy, which just turned co-ed from an all-girls school, is where Takatoshi Tsuda enrolled in – not for the delusional harem other hormone-influenced guys want to have, but simply because it’s close to his house. Upon entering the gate, he is stopped by the school’s Student Council President (Kaicho) Shino Amakusa and then the following scenes take place:

Lenovo A60 Review: Quality Affordable Android Phone!

    by chad

I wasn’t really planning on buying a new phone since my current one is still alive and kicking, yet here I am, falling prey to the unparalleled marketing strategies the gadget merchants have especially concocted. And the one that caught my eye among all others is the Lenovo A60. Priced at 6,600PHP by Quality Cellular Phone, this phone is really worth looking into.

This is probably what you’re thinking: “The hell? I’ve never heard of a Lenovo-branded mobile phone before!” Well, they actually have a separate group for their mobile gadgets, but it’s still under Lenovo. Also, this is the first time they entered the Philippine smartphone market so maybe that’s why.

Inclusive: Phone, Earphones, Manual, Warranty, Charger, Battery, USB Cable, Screen Protector, Shell Case

    The Works:

Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread w/ Google Play
    3.5″ HVGA Multi-touch Screen w/ 256K colors @ 320×480 pixels
    MT6573 ARM11 650MHz Processor
    Dual SIM, Dual Stand-by
    256MB RAM, 512MB ROM
220MB internal storage, up to 16GB via microSD
    3G/HSDPA, WiFi 802.11 b/g, WiFi hotspot
    Bluetooth w/ A2DP, EDR
    GPS with aGPS support
    3.2MP rear camera
    0.3MP front-facing camera
    Li-Ion 1500mAh battery

    Desktop User Interface

I’m not really a fan of anything Android, but after diving a couple of times in my siblings’ Droid-operated phones, I was astounded by the literally thousands of FREE and useful applications you can horde online. Well yeah, my old Nokia C3 can also have third-party apps installed in it, but I needed the bigger screen, more powerful processing and a smoother  and more practical user interface to improve my overall work and social performance.

Super Steaks at Everything At Steak!

    by chad

After hours of cycling from Antipolo to San Juan with Sugoi Biking Club, we decided to reward ourselves with awesome juicy steaks from Everything At Steak. Okay, it might be a little hypocritical for some that we biked to exercise and then gorge ourselves in pure foodie mayhem after. But that’s exactly why we formed the group in the first place: to visit awesome foodie places via biking to give it a little more feel of adventure. Exercise is just secondary. You know the drill.

Wasn’t able to bring my camera so I apologize for the picture quality. Thanks to James for lending me his iTouch.

I’ve already been here a couple of times already, actually. A couple of friends, along with their company as my client, usually dine here before or after a project meeting. This is also when I go to Greenhills to check up on some 2nd hand PS3 gaming spoils.

Having said that, I haven’t really been able to try anything on the menu besides their T-Bone Steak, Rib Eye Steak, Bottomless Red Iced Tea and the side dishes Mac & Cheese as well as Potato Salad. That is because they have been my favorite ever since. Those juicy and tasty bastards really had me over in just a snap. Superb yet afforable is probably the best way to describe them. Maybe I’ll try the others once I get too much of them or something? That probably won’t be happening anytime soon, though.

Agni’s Philosophy: Final Fantasy Real Time Tech Demo

    by chad

Just recently, our friends at Square Enix proudly revealed their next-gen technology that would power up their next projects through the helping hand of Luminous Studio. Along with the news came a video dubbed Agni’s Philosophy that is said to be played real-time, and not pre-rendered. Awesome graphics ahead!

There isn’t any information regarding if this will be a game, movie, or whatever, so let’s just put our hopes to neutral and take this as a technical demo similar to Final Fantasy VII’s PS3 Tech Demo that never materialized as anything else.

I’m stunned by this awesome development and all, but where the hell is Versus XIII!? ;(

For the meantime, watch this super awesome video of Agni’s Philosophy!

    Burrito Brothers’ Burrito Mayhem!

    by chad

One of the first establishments to sprout in today’s Lilac St. foodie haven is the renowned Burrito Brothers, offering fresh and oh so yummy Mexican food at very affordable prices! They’re open from 11am-11pm, so you can enjoy their delightful salsa meals be it for a late hearty brunch or an early midnight snack for to-go.

Just like the other establishments in Marikina’s Lilac St. I previously blogged about, you can go to the said street via Marcos Hi-way then Sumulong Hi-way, taking a turn to Antipolo’s Soliven St., and then moving on forward until it becomes Marikina’s Lilac St. just after the city border bridge.

For those coming from Quezon City, you can take a U-turn at Gil Fernando St. right after Sta. Lucia Mall. From then on you’ll be making a right turn to Sumulong Hi-way, and then you’ll be in Soliven St. in no time.

You won’t miss it! Landmarks include Bertz Cafe in front, and Tapsilog Avenue as well as Spartea beside it. There’s also Tamagoya and Crazy Katsu, but they’re sort of far away already.

Despite the place being a little cramped, it can seat up to around 40 customers simultaneously with their tables of four and eight. And besides, the ‘semi-constrictedness’ of the area is what also gives that ambiance that makes you feel at home, all of it while being served with delicious homemade food by the very hospitable staff. Mexican and Latin music are also played all through0ut the day as added perks.

    Another 00 OVA is Out!

    by chad

The OVA of Another finally hit the market last May 26, 2012 bundled with the “0th” volume of the manga. This 24-minute episode is set before the beginning of the series. It shows us a quick look on the lives of the two Misaki twins, and how the so-called ‘Calamity’ in the town of Yomiyama started.

It’s been awhile since I finished Another, but watching this OVA brought back that old depressing feeling the series was able to uniquely explicate. It’s refreshing to see Misaki Mei acting like the normal middle-schooler she was supposed to be. Well, until ‘That’ happened. In the series, she was introduced to the viewers as a quiet and unfeeling character. For those who’ve watched it, we all know how it’s gonna end.
