Working`!! Season 2 Pre-airing
by chad
The first episode of Working`!! (yes, season 2 with the `) gets pre-aired in Japan in 720p. The link is below. I seriously can’t wait for this season’s fun ramblings at the restaurant of Wagnaria!
Haven’t watched the first season? Click here to learn more about Working!! / Wagnaria! and their awesome crew!

The two-month wait since the last Kira episode has ended!07th Expansion finally released the next one! Straying away from the completely drunk in perverted fan-service of the first to a more kawaii and moe mahou-shoujo atmosephere, this actually made a good comeback as well as a flag-triggering event for the next episode which will be aired 2 months from now.
The episode is titled “Bewitching Battle – Chapter: ~Never~” and starts with Rika having a dream about being an all grown-up mahou shoujo woman trying to rescue an also grown-up Satoko from the clutches of the Four Generals. Then they wake up only to find out that Rika transferred to yet another world along with Satoko – a world similar to the original Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni canon, but somehow different. The Rika of that world seemed to be a magical girl that protects the peace of Hinamizawa, which our ‘current‘ Rika oh so despised.
Although this one has been out since September 22 (Meh, I just got back from a week long vacation), I still decided to post this anyway. The link is below. Enjoy!

Top 15 Anime Openings – Part 1
by chad
After days of inactivity in this blog, it’s feels awesome to be back! And here I got you guys a little something to make up for the post-less days passed: my top 15 anime opening sequences just for you to watch! If you viewed my Anime List page and liked what you saw, then I guess you’ll have no qualms with me saying that you’ll also love what’s in store for you here.
These are my personal top 15 and no, they are not in order. I really love them all but I just couldn’t decide how to rank them since they all have varying pros and cons. An opening or closing sequence, even an insert song, may be rated on its musicality, fancy visual effects, creativity, relation to the plot and characters, moe elements, weirdness factor, the fact that it doesn’t appear too scripted, and god knows what else.
Heck, there are even those that you’d just ignore at first. But after coming to know the show and its surprisingly interesting plot, it suddenly takes your no. 1 spot. That is, until a new awesome series shows up – thus repeating the cycle. And I guess that brings birth to us feeling irritated when people just dismiss our anime by judging them halfheartedly – “They don’t know what they’re missing since they haven’t watched everything yet!” is probably what we wanted to say. LOL
Of the thousands of anime series out there, I guess it’s really impossible to account a perpetual top 15 of such. So yeah, these are mine as of the time being, and I hope you enjoy them! Also, share your favorite OP sequences by commenting below! :)
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni – Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
In all seriousness, this OP from Higurashi got me watching anime again after I went on hiatus from such a lifestyle for 4 years in college. And of course, one thing led to another, and the next thing I knew I had tons of anime queued on my list.
I really loved this one because of the very unusual genre they used, as well as how both the video and music really captured the initial theme of the show – mysterious and scary. The 2nd season OP, which focuses more on the sadness and tragedies that befell the characters, will be in part 2 of this post.
When the evening cicadas cry in the forbidden forest, you cannot turn back anymore.
Welcome to the NHK – Puzzle
This song from Welcome to the NHK is just so refreshing. I really can’t put it into words, so just watch it and see what I mean. How the pop art-ish video blends with the characters’ portrayal and music is spot on!
Reaching out with both hands, a puzzle making no progress / It gets left behind until us two meet by chance / Something’s gone missing; we need to get back that final piece / In order to walk forward
Serial Experiments Lain – Duvet
Really cool intro for the legendary anime Serial Experiments Lain. ‘Nuf said.
And you know I don’t mean to hurt you / But you know that it means so much / And you don’t even feel a thing /
I am falling / I am fading / I have lost it all
Steins;Gate is one of the anime shows currently being aired that I prioritize watching after being released every week, along with Natsume Yuujinchou, Nichijou, Gintama, Baka Test, Usagi Drop, No. 6, Carnival Phantasm, Dantalian no Shoka and many others. I’ll try to blog about them as soon as possible.
Originally a visual novel for the Xbox 360, this franchise has expanded not just in other platforms like Windows, PSP and iOS, but in anime and manga as well. The story is supposed to have taken place a year after the events in Chaos;Head – a horrible anime you should never watch. Surprisingly, Steins;Gate is quite the opposite and has regained my trust in 5pb. and Nitroplus.
It’s already on it’s 22nd episode (two more to go) and I’m eagerly awaiting for the awesome finale. The main setting of this anime concentrates on the value of time and the choices you make via time travel scenarios, but it also goes with the concept that you can’t change fate no matter what you do. Our main character would stand up and battle the cruel destiny that awaits him – a somewhat similar predicament to Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni‘s Rika Furude.
Plot: Self-proclaimed mad scientist Okabe Rintarou, founder of Future Gadget Laboratory, discovers a way to send text messages to the past via their Future Gadget #008 dubbed Phone Microwave (name subject to change) along with other lab members Mayuri Shiina and Itaru Hashida.
Capable of informing people in the past via SMS, or D-Mail, they are able to alter the present timeline but at the price of everyone forgetting the previous timeline like it never happened (as technically, it never did – it was overwritten in the new world line). All except for Okabe. This is due to his ability which he calls “Reading Steiner.”
Time flies by so fast – so fast, that I didn’t even notice that my most awaited show from TypeMoon, Carnival Phantasm, is already on its third episode! I guess I’ve been too busy with stuff that the show’s premiere, which was aired last August 12, completely slipped my mind. Well, no matter. I’ve got three super–mega-awesome anime episodes to burn!
To those TypeMoon crazies who haven’t watched them yet, I bet you’re dying to see them now, right? Well, worry no more! The torrent links to the 1080p Full HD episodes are here right after the cut! Enjoy!
*Warning – Do not watch if you haven’t watched Shingetsutan Tsukihime or Fate/Stay Night, nor played Melty Blood yet. Chances are, you won’t be able to relate to the countless inside jokes portrayed in the show. This anime is for the fans of the TypeMoon franchises, after all.
A Tribute to Anime Voice Actors – My Top 30 Part 2
by chad
Oftentimes, we find ourselves watching anime without really paying much attention to the characters’ voices – “Yeah sure, as long as it’s Japanese dubbed with English subs I really don’t care. So let’s watch the damn anime and get it over with!” Among all the great and proud series I have watched, I never knew of the goldmine of humble talents behind the characters we all so adore and hate. And so I dedicate this post as tribute to their uber-greatness.
After watching series after series that all had a somewhat familiar voice in it, I started to wonder and tried to verify my speculations online. And thanks to MyAnimeList, I was able to do just that! And my, how it surprised me how little the world was for anime voice actors. I was practically watching different kinds of anime that had the same voice actors in it!
